Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration has dialogue with permanent representatives at OSCE
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri, during his working visit to Vienna, discussed the Transnistrian issue with more diplomats accredited to the OSCE, in particular from the EU, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, Poland, Finland, Ukraine, Norway, Turkey, as well as the Office of the OSCE Secretary General.
The deputy PM reiterated the indispensable nature of a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, based on respect for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
During the meetings, they sides also reviewed the dynamics of the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as the efforts of Moldova’s authorities to promote firm and effective reintegration policies. All these actions are meant to eliminate disparities and artificial obstacles between the two banks of the river, restoring unified national spaces in all areas. The participants in the discussions specified, in particular, that through the Convergence Fund, which is in the process of being promoted, measures for social protection and sustainable development would be implemented for the benefit of citizens and especially vulnerable people on both banks of Dniester.
At the same time, the deputy prime minister stressed the need to promptly introduce measures to protect fundamental human rights in the eastern districts of the country, as well as to maintain a regional environment of security, peace and prosperity.
The dialogue served as a good opportunity for an exchange of information and views, as well as for strengthening the support of partners for the reintegration process.
