Second edition of Moldova Electronics Forum held in Chisinau
Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - National and international representatives of the electronic industry assembled at the second edition of the Moldova Electronics Forum in Chisinau today. The participants in the event discussed problems faced by the sector and perspectives for its development.
Attending the opening of the forum was Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The official noted that Moldova had quite good premises for the development of the electronics sector, as it enjoys a qualified staff, as well as a friendly geopolitical context. ‘’In Chisinau, one can make any product which can be fabricated anywhere on this planet and it is up to us whether we can explore these opportunities. The doors of the government and of the prime minister are always opened for all those who have an initiative and want to implement it, who want to create a new product or want to launch an innovation,’’ Dorin Recean said.
The head of the Association of Companies from the Electronic Industry (ACEM), Vitalie Esanu, said that several hundreds of enterprises presently worked in Moldova’s electronic industry, whose volume of work amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars. About 90-95 per cent of the products made are meant for export. ‘’We produce sophisticated equipment. We have products which were exported to over 40 countries. We are set to put into operation a plant producing electric buses. Electronics represents Moldova’s future,’’ Vitalie Esanu said.
The acting director of the Investments Agency, Ion Iordachi, said that the electronic sector was an indispensable part of both the investment supply from Moldova and of the export one. He also said that Moldova was prepared for new cooperation in the field and for tapping new markets.
The native electronic industry presently brings together over 170 companies with about 16,000 employees; this is a promising sector as to the contribution to the Gross Domestic Product, creation of jobs and attraction of foreign direct investments.
