Deputy Prime Minister meets with British Parliament members
The disinformation and forms of foreign interference were discussed by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi during a meeting with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee (FAC) from the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who are on a fact-finding visit to the Republic of Moldova, in the context of launching an investigation into combating disinformation.
The discussions focused on how the Republic of Moldova counters disinformation and other forms of foreign interference, bilateral cooperation in strategic communication and cybersecurity, as well as the developments in the European integration process.
“The United Kingdom is and will remain a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. The resilience of our institutions and the solidarity of society have been possible due to the constant support offered by our British friends, including in strengthening strategic communication and cybersecurity defense. Our success is also the success of our partners,” said Mihai Popșoi.
Furthermore, the parties addressed the impact of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine on regional security and the importance of strengthening institutional resilience and cooperation in combating hybrid threats.
During the meeting, the results of Moldovan-British collaboration were highlighted, including support given to the StratCom Center, which contributes to the prevention and combating of disinformation campaigns. The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in defense, institutional reform, and societal resilience.
