EcoContact organization of Moldova trains NGOs to facilitate equal access to environmental justice
The EcoContact organization is launching a new phase in support of active civil society in the field of environmental protection, by organizing a training workshop dedicated to the Equal Access to Environmental Justice Small Grants Programme, The event will take place in Chisinau on November 13, 2025, with the registration deadline being November 6.
The workshop is a mandatory preparatory stage for organizations intending to apply for the funding programme and aims to strengthen NGOs' capabilities to document, prevent and resolve cases of infringements of the right to a clean and sound environment.
"The workshop will include theoretical and practical sessions on access to information and environmental justice; identifying and documenting cases of pollution or ecological abuse; developing partnerships between NGOs and lawyers for initiating strategic environmental litigations; drafting project proposals eligible for the Small Grants Programme, in accordance with gender inclusion principles and protection of vulnerable communities," said EcoContact.
According to the organizers, non-governmental organizations from all over Moldova, including the Transnistrian region (in partnership with an organization from the right bank of the Dniester), that are active in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable development, public transparency, or human rights, can participate in the training.
To be eligible, NGOs must prove experience in project management, community’s mobilization capacity and willingness to collaborate with vulnerable groups. Participation in the training is free of charge, and meals, materials and logistical costs (transport, accommodation) will be covered by the organizers. At the same time, the workshop will offer a methodological guidance component, through which participants will be supported in drafting project proposals that will be subsequently evaluated competitively.
The Equal Access to Environmental Justice Small Grants Programme is part of the project titled, Green Justice for a Protected Environment and Sustainable Communities in Moldova, implemented by the NGO EcoContact, with financial support on behalf of Sweden and its main goal is to strengthen the role of civil society in promoting the right to a sound and equitable environment for all citizens.
