
Moldovan president invites parliamentary factions, groups to consultations to nominate candidate for PM office
President Maia Sandu has invited the parliamentary factions and groups to consultations for the nomination of a candidate for the position of prime minister.
According to the Presidency, the meetings will take place on October 23 and October 24, at Moldova’s Presidency, according to the following schedule:
Thursday, October 23:
• 13:00 – Political Party Democracy at Home
• 14:00 – Political Party Our Party
• 15:00 – Political Bloc Alternative
• 16:00 – Party of Communists of Moldova
• 17:00 – Party of Socialists of Moldova
Friday, October 24:
• 10:00 – Action and Solidarity Party
The consultations are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Moldova’s Constitution and aim to designate a candidate for the position of prime minister, for the formation of a new government.
According to the Constitution, the designated candidate for prime minister will request, within 15 days, the parliament's vote of confidence on the activity programme and the members of the cabinet of ministers. To be appointed to office, the new government will need to get the majority vote of the MPs.
Consultations with parliamentary factions and groups are initiated after the parliament of the 12th legislative period was constituted today.
