Small entrepreneurs in agriculture can access up to 150,000 euros for investments
Farmers and small enterprises can access funding of up to 150,000 euros for processing, packaging and storage of agricultural products. The loans cover up to 90% of the project value, with a minimum contribution of 10%, and are repayable in up to 8 years, including a grace period of 4 years.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), small and micro-enterprises in the agro-processing sector can now access funding on preferential terms through the project Enhancing Capacities for Rural Transformation, implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
'The maximum loan amount is 150,000 euros, with a coverage of up to 90% of the project value. The term is up to 8 years, with a grace period of up to 4 years, and a minimum own contribution of 10%. Eligible activities include processing, calibrating, packaging, and labeling agricultural products (fruits, vegetables, table grapes, berries, medicinal and aromatic plants); construction of agricultural warehouses and cold rooms; implementation of renewable energy for post-harvest activities', explains MAIA.
Beneficiaries will have several advantages such as VAT exemptions and customs facilities; favorable interest rates and limited fees; the possibility to invest in both fixed assets and working capital.
'Through these investments, entrepreneurs in agriculture can more efficiently harness local production, create jobs, and add value to Moldovan products', summarizes the Ministry of Agriculture.
