
USMF 'Nicolae Testemitanu' celebrates 80 years of activity
Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova celebrates 80 years of activity today. Over eight decades, the institution has established itself as a benchmark in medical and pharmaceutical education, research, and innovation in the health sector.
On this occasion, rector of USMF 'Nicolae Testemitanu' Emil Ceban emphasized that the modernized study programs, advanced teaching and clinical infrastructure, state-of-the-art research laboratories, and international academic partnerships provide students with professional training opportunities according to the highest European standards.
'It is a significant date for our university, and we are celebrating it grandly. In these 80 years, the institution has gone through various stages of development. Today, USMF 'Nicolae Testemitanu' is fully modernized, being a European institution of international level. In its 80 years of activity, the university has trained over 51,000 doctors and pharmacists both for our country and for 46 other countries. Additionally, national and international accreditations confirm the global recognition of USMF 'Nicolae Testemitanu', placing it among prestigious universities and at the top of higher education institutions in the country', remarked Emil Ceban.
In the context of the anniversary, the institution is organizing an international congress entitled '80 Years of Innovation in Health and Medical Education', which takes place on 20-22 October.
'The event is expected to host over 2,000 participants from 20 countries, including national and international speakers who will discuss the most important topics in medicine and scientific research. Thus, the congress will facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue and create new bridges of collaboration between researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, and international partners. It is a large and beautiful event, bringing together specialists from countries such as Romania, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Italy, France, and Greece', stated Emil Ceban.
Currently, over 7,000 students study at USMF 'Nicolae Testemitanu', with 1,500 of them from 31 countries worldwide. Additionally, 422 doctoral candidates study in the Doctoral School of Medical Sciences, under the guidance of 306 doctoral supervisors. Moreover, 9,500 medical practitioners, pharmacists, and health specialists annually attend continuing medical education programs.
The scientific-teaching staff at USMF 'Nicolae Testemitanu' consists of 1,017 individuals, including 153 PhDs and 509 doctors of science, six academicians from the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) and five corresponding members of ASM.
Over its 80 years of activity, USMF 'Nicolae Testemitanu' has signed 127 collaboration agreements with universities and research centers from 32 countries.
