Finance Minister, IMF team discussed reform priorities and macroeconomic outlook for Moldova
The reform priorities of the Ministry of Finance and the macroeconomic perspectives of the Republic of Moldova were discussed by Minister of Finance Andrian Gavriliță with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission team, led by Alina Iancu.
The meeting took place in the context of the IMF mission conducted on December 4-17, 2025.
According to the Ministry of Finance, discussions focused on evaluating economic prospects and major macroeconomic risks, as well as strengthening the fiscal-budgetary policy framework. Progress in implementing structural reforms and maintaining fiscal discipline were highlighted, alongside supporting economic growth and investments.
The Minister of Finance presented the reform agenda, emphasizing the continuation of tax reform, the efficiency of public spending and capital investments, the strengthening of public finance management, and maintaining the budget deficit within sustainable limits. Additionally, support measures for the business environment, including small and medium enterprises, and initiatives for public administration modernization and salary system reform in the budgetary sector were addressed.
An important topic of discussion was leveraging technical assistance provided by the International Monetary Fund and other development partners, to accelerate reforms and align public policies with international best practices.
During the mission, IMF experts held a series of technical work meetings with the Ministry of Finance teams, during which economic developments and progress in implementing the reform agenda were analyzed.
