VIDEO // Entrepreneurs growing at home with European support in Moldova: seven businesses benefit from grants worth over 2.6 million lei
Seven entrepreneurs from Edinet, Leova and Straseni have benefited from grants worth over 2.6 million lei to develop their businesses. The support was provided through the EU4Moldova: Local Communities programme.
The funds got by the entrepreneurs allowed them to acquire new equipment, create 33 new jobs in rural areas, diversify products, expand their activities and increase their long-term competitiveness and sustainability.
The entrepreneurs who benefited from the support are active in such sectors as food production, wine and beverage processing, agriculture, paper product manufacturing and metal construction.
One of the beneficiaries of the grant program is Roxana Ursu, an entrepreneur from Fetesti, Edinet. With the money obtained, the young beekeeper purchased a gazebo and an apitherapy house. "This support from the European Union is quite welcome for young people who are at the initial stage. I truly support and encourage women to access support programmes," says Roxana Ursu.
"We were very pleased with the programmes we had access to through EU4Moldova and encourage anyone willing to develop a business at home to apply whenever they have the chance," Ion Tabarcea, an EU-supported entrepreneur, said
The EU4Moldova: Local Communities programme was launched in 2021 as an initiative of the Team Europe, aimed at strengthening local development and improving the lives of citizens in the Edinet, Leova, and Straseni districts. The programme is funded by the European Union, the Austrian Development Cooperation, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland – Polish Aid.
