The firm support of the European Union for the European future of Moldova today was reaffirmed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, on an official visit to Chisinau.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu thanked the President of the European Parliament for the constant support of Moldova's European path and for contributing to the strengthening the country's democratic resilience.

‘’The transformation of European states is inspirational and sets an example for us: from strengthening the economy, providing better services for people, to the common values we share. We want to provide our citizens with the same opportunities, and we will make every effort to ensure that, by 2028, our country is ready for EU accession,’’ said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.

The PM noted, in the context, the impact of the Growth Plan for Moldova, funded with 1.9 billion euros by the European Union. The implementation of the Plan will help the government to more quickly align with European standards, grow the country's economy and provide better living conditions for all citizens.

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola appreciated Moldova’s  determination and highlighted the remarkable progress in implementing reforms, despite constant interference on behalf of Russia.

‘’Moldova's future is in the European Union, just as confirmed by the last September elections’ results. Your country's determination continues to inspire us, and you can rely on our support in implementing all necessary reforms,’’ said the high-ranking European official.

President Roberta Metsola also said that the European Parliament would work even more closely with Moldova, due to the recent opening of an office of the institution in Chisinau.

It is worth mentioning that, on November 4 this year, the European Commission published the 2025 Enlargement Report, which highlights the progress made by Moldova in the European integration process. Over the past year, the country has taken the most significant step forward in terms of readiness for EU accession.

During her visit to Chisinau, Roberta Metsola delivered a speech at the plenary meeting of Moldova’s parliament, met representatives of key state institutions and had discussions with young people and opinion leaders.
