
Pre-electoral mission of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe visits Moldova's parliament
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had a meeting with the delegation of the Pre-Electoral Mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The mission is on a visit to Moldova, in order to assess the electoral campaign and the political climate in the country ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The discussions focused on such topics as preparation for the parliamentary elections, the conduct of voting abroad, state and cyber security, misinformation and propaganda, foreign interference, etc.
In his message, the speaker expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for the support provided to Moldova and stressed the importance of conducting fair elections, highlighting the actions taken by the authorities to this end.
“It is important to have as many observers involved as possible, in order to monitor the electoral process, to prevent potential threats and for attempts of electoral corruption to be sanctioned according to the law,” said Igor Grosu.
The officials also met at the parliament with members of the parliamentary faction the of Action and Solidarity Party, members of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, as well as with representatives of state institutions in charge of various administrative aspects of the electoral process.
We remind that the parliamentary elections will take place in Moldova on September 28. In the context, a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will monitor the electoral process in the country over the next period.
