Photovoltaic installations dominate renewable energy production rankings with 70 percent in July
In July, 70 percent of the total capacity of renewable energy was produced by photovoltaic installations.
According to data of the National Center for Sustainable Energy, by the end of July, the total capacity of renewable energy reached 784.09 MW, an increase of 204.7 MW compared to the end of last year. Wind energy follows with 214.58 MW (27%), hydropower with 16.75 MW (2%), and biogas with 7.16 MW (1%).
The sector's development is driven by public policies such as net metering, net billing, and fixed tariffs, which have allowed the installation of over 338 MW through state-regulated support mechanisms. More and more producers are selling renewable energy on the open market, a sign of the profitability of investments.
Authorities aim to achieve the energy targets set for 2030: at least 27% of the gross final energy consumption and 31.2% of the gross final electricity consumption from renewable sources. In the coming period, the legal framework for storage solutions and for increasing the attractiveness of investments in the green energy sector will be updated.
