PM invites Japanese business people to invest in Moldova

Prime Minister Dorin Recean had a meeting in Tokyo with Tanaka Akihiko, the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), an institution that has been supporting the economic and social development of partner countries for many years.

The PM said that, through JICA, Moldova had received financial aid of worth about 42 million euros over the last five years. With these resources, five hospitals in the country were endowed with modern medical equipment, 19 emergency intervention vehicles were acquired, over 1,000 farmers received support for adopting eco-friendly technologies, including the setting of photovoltaic panels in 47 farms and subsidies provided to farmers amounted to approximately 2 million euros. At the same time, the National Library was endowed with modern equipment allowing for the digitization of the cultural heritage.

"These are projects which we want to continue, in order to provide our citizens with better living conditions," the prime minister emphasized.

In Tokyo, Dorin Recean also met Takeshi Hashimoto, the Chairman of the Business Cooperation Committee within Keidanren – the most important association of the Japanese business community. The prime minister invited Japanese businesspeople to invest in Moldova, not only in the industrial and agricultural sectors, but also in such fields as information technology and green energy.

"Together, with partners like Japan, Moldova will grow strong and build a good life at home for its citizens," said Dorin Recean.

The Moldovan PM is on an official visit to Japan, where he met with the Japanese prime minister and attended the opening of Moldova's stand at the World Expo in Osaka.

Dorin Recean discussed with the Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba the opportunities for investment and mutual collaboration. The Moldovan prime minister emphasized that the projects supported by Japan in agriculture, health, education and local development brought direct benefits to Moldovan citizens.
