PHOTO // Presidents of Moldova, Romania celebrate Romanian Language in Straseni

President Maia Sandu and the President of Romania Nicusor Dan, went to Straseni Following the Great National Dictation, where they laid flowers at the monument to Mihai Eminescu.

The two officials discussed with people and attended a concert dedicated to the Romanian Language Day, organized at the Straseni-based Community Centre.

President Maia Sandu said she was delighted to mark the Romanian language alongside the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, at the Great National Dictation and then with the residents of Straseni.

“In every face and every word, I felt the love for the language that unites us. I learned from childhood that freedom and dignity are not given for free. They are earned and defended with effort and courage. Likewise, the Romanian language has endured because it was defended and loved by generations of brave people. Today, we have the duty to preserve it and pass it on to our children. Wherever we are, it remains the compass of our identity and the living connection to traditions and roots,” Maia Sandu said.

She thanked all those who were curious enough to test their knowledge in dictation, as well as all those who cultivate the Romanian language every day with their love and care.
