President of Romania in Chisinau says Moldova example of defending European values

Moldova is an example for Europe and the whole world in how it seeks to defend its democracy. President of Romania, Nicusor Dan has made statements to this effect in Chisinau. "You are more European than the Europeans," said the Romanian official, who promised full support from Bucharest for deepening the relations with Moldova.

"You are an example for Europe and for the whole world in how you try to defend democracy in the face of the same types of pressures that come from the same side and you prove through this that you are more European than the Europeans and that your place is in the European Union," said the president of Romania.

Nicusor Dan, alongside Maia Sandu, participated in the opening of the event — the Great National Dictation, third edition. In his speech before more than two thousand participants, the Romanian head of state assured that Romania would continue to support Moldova.

"The Romanian language is beyond being an identity; it is a responsibility for each one of us. Romania and Moldova are countries that have common values, that need each other, and it is our responsibility to help each other, so that these two countries can have a bright future in the world we are all building. On behalf of Romania, on my behalf, every friendship and openness to build these ties," said Nicusor Dan.

The Romanian head of state noted that the Romanian Language Day was also celebrated in Romania and opined that the experience of organizing The Great National Dictation could also be adopted, especially for "politicians".
