New installment of about 200 million euros for Moldova disbursed by EU: how money to be used

The financial resources from the new installment of 189 million euros, disbursed today by the European Commission to Moldova under the Reform and Growth Facility, will be directed towards structural reforms and development projects to boost the country’s economic competitiveness and improve the quality of life of its citizens.

According to the Delegation of the European Union to Chisinau, out of the total amount, 173 million euros will be transferred directly to the state budget, while 16 million euros will support projects in Moldova through the Neighbourhood Investment Platform.

The new installment of 189 million euros, disbursed today, adds to the 289 million euros provided to Moldova in 2025. The funds are part of the 1.9-billion-euro Growth Plan for Moldova, provided through the Reform and Growth Facility.

The disbursement of the new tranche today was announced by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos. She said  that “Moldova has once again honoured its commitments to the EU, and the reforms implemented are bringing real benefits, from reducing bureaucracy to better online services and a cleaner environment.”

“When our partners honour their commitments, the EU should do the same. Our funds will directly support the citizens of Moldova and help the country continue on its European path,” said Marta Kos.

The financial resources were granted following the European Commission’s positive assessment of 24 milestones achieved by Moldova under the Reform and Growth Facility. Key reforms implemented include reducing the administrative burden on the business environment, strengthening cybersecurity and emergency response capacity, advancing the digitalization of public services, improving budget transparency, as well as reinforcing mechanisms to combat fraud, recover assets and strengthen the judicial system. National electricity and balancing markets have been launched and the adoption of renewable energy has been accelerated.

The Growth Plan supported by the European Union is the most extensive and ambitious financial support package in the history of Moldova, amounting to 1.9 billion euros. The Facility Agreement between Moldova and the European Union on the specific arrangements for implementing the support provided by the European Union under the Reform and Growth Facility for Moldova was signed on 9 May 2025.
