Prime Minister in Iurceni commune, known for promoting art of pottery: Government will continue to invest in development of culture
The working visit of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu to Nisporeni district began in the locality of Iurceni, known for preserving and promoting traditional crafts, especially the art of pottery. Iurceni commune has benefited from Government support, through the two editions of the European Village Program, for the rehabilitation of cultural facilities and recreational areas.
At the Museum of History and Ethnography in Iurceni, where a rich collection of ceramic vessels made by local potters in different historical periods is exhibited, the official praised the community’s efforts to keep alive the traditions passed down from generation to generation and highlighted their role in local economic development by attracting visitors and stimulating rural tourism. Last year, the traditional event Potters’ Fair, which brings together folk craftsmen from the country and from abroad, reached its 35th edition.
“The Government will continue to invest in the development of culture and to support projects that contribute to increasing the tourist attractiveness of the region,” Munteanu said.
Currently, the building of the House of Culture in Iurceni is under renovation, for which the government has allocated about 828,000 lei.
At the same time, earlier, with Government financial support amounting to over 3.2 million lei, the local amphitheater was rehabilitated and equipped with a summer stage and seats. The project also included the arrangement of the spring on the territory of the recreational area, which dates back to the year 1429.
