
Construction and modernization of water supply and sanitation systems in Soroca, Rîșcani, Cahul districts to be accelerated
The construction and modernization works of the water supply and sanitation systems in the districts of Soroca, Rîșcani and Cahul have been declared projects of national public utility. The government's decision will speed up the implementation of priority subprojects within Water Supply and Sanitation Security in Moldova Project.
As a result, the expansion and rehabilitation of the water supply infrastructure in the localities of Cahul district, in the villages of Pelinei, Sătuc, Găvănoasa, Vladimirovca, Nicolaevca and Vulcănești railway station will be accelerated.
Furthermore, the construction of the regional water supply system and the water treatment plant in Rîșcani district, sourcing from the Prut River, will be facilitated, providing access to drinking water for the residents of Costești, Duruitoarea, Proscureni, Păscăuți, Damașcani, Duruitoarea Nouă, Dumeni, Horodiște and Petrușeni.
At the same time, the sanitation infrastructure in Soroca will be rehabilitated, and a new wastewater treatment plant and sewerage collector will be built.
The implementation of these works will bring direct benefits to citizens, providing them access to safe water sources and modern sanitation services. Ensuring water and sewage systems for localities in the Republic of Moldova is a priority for the Government of the Republic of Moldova. In the last three years alone, predominantly in rural areas, 940 km of water supply networks and 220 km of sewage have been constructed.
