Director of Money Laundering Prevention, Combating Service introduced to team
Chisinau, Dec. 15 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița introduced new director Daniel-Marius Staicu to the team of the Money Laundering Prevention and Combating Service, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Gavrilita said that he has extensive professional experience both in the Republic of Moldova and in Romania in investigating and combating tax evasion, money laundering, tax fraud and asset identification.
In this context, the premier voiced confidence that the new head will make a significant contribution to the development process of the service, the application of the sanctions legislation in the Republic of Moldova and the implementation of concrete actions for the benefit of the citizens.
"We have several short- and medium-term priorities on the Service's activity. We will work on the regulations related to sanctions, the transposition of international sanctions and their application in our country. We must also focus on improving cooperation between state institutions to fight corruption, and in the context of our European integration path - the Service will adjust the national legislation in the field", she said.
At the same time, according to the prime minister, the relationship with the business environment and the organization of the activity to prevent illegalities, without creating impediments for business, remain important. At the same time, speeding up the process of returning stolen assets to the country remains a priority.
Daniel-Marius Staicu thanked for the trust noting that the basic task will remain the efficiency of the Service's activity. "We will intensify communication both with the state institutions and with the private environment in order to have an activity as efficient as possible. I am convinced that together with my colleagues, we will transpose the legislation in order to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova and we will achieve all the proposed objectives", he said.
