Government approved amendments to facilitate construction of energy independence line 400 kV Vulcănești–Chișinău
Government has approved amendments that facilitate the development of electrical energy transport infrastructure and remove procedural bottlenecks in the construction process of the 400 kV Vulcănești-Chișinău Energy Independence Line.
The amendments include the transfer to state ownership of about 1.84 hectares of agricultural land of Bacioi village, necessary for the foundations of high-voltage line pillars, while another 1.22 hectares will be temporarily used. In this regard, special expropriation procedures will be applied for immovable goods located along the work route. Property and usage rights will be transferred to the state based on an expropriation document issued by the Government, allowing rapid execution of the works.
It is worth mentioning that the Energy Independence Line 400 kV Vulcănești–Chișinău is a priority energy infrastructure project, which is part of the major interconnection objectives with the European energy system. The construction of the power line is to be completed by the end of this year.
At the same time, the approved amendments foresee the modernization of the authorization process for the construction of power plants. An important feature is the introduction of a requirement for prior assessment by the Council for Examining Investments of Importance to State Security of investment projects for the construction of power plants with a capacity exceeding 20 MW.
Besides the infrastructure-related aspects, the amendments also support the commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova through 2025-2027 Growth Plan. Thus, the necessary conditions are created for expanding balancing capacities, essential for the stability of the electro-energetic system and the efficient functioning of the electrical energy balancing market.
