Moldovan driving licenses to be recognized in United Kingdom
The list of countries where Moldovan driving licenses are recognized is expanding, now including the United Kingdom.
The government has approved the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the government of the United Kingdom on the mutual exchange of driving licenses.
The international treaty aims to strengthen Moldovan-British economic relations, facilitate road traffic for citizens of both countries who hold a driving license, and ensure improved access to the labor market. The provisions of the document apply to driving licenses that are valid and are built on principles of equity and reciprocity between both countries.
Thus, Moldovan citizens with a residence visa in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland will be able to exchange their driving licenses, being exempted from schooling, theoretical and practical tests, or any other expenses associated with this purpose.
Moldova has similar agreements with Ireland, Latvia, Spain, Greece, Israel, Turkey, Albania, and Lithuania. An agreement with France has been initialed and is set to come into effect, while there is a Joint Declaration of Intent in this regard between Moldova and Germany.
