Spokesman for government says cabinet describes event organized by Ilan Shor in Moscow as act of high treason
The event recently held in Moscow, attended by Ilan Shor, and the opinions expressed by him during the meeting are described by the Moldovan government as an act of high treason. The spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, today made statements to this effect.
Daniel Voda said that ‘’the statements made there are not mere opinions, but part of a well-known scenario of undermining the state and the citizens of Moldova, written according to the Russian propaganda manual and staged with the participation of Russian Federation’s officials.’’
‘’The event organized by fugitive criminal Ilan Shor in Moscow is qualified by the cabinet as treason. The statements made there are not just opinions, but part of a well-known scenario of undermining the state and the citizens of Moldova, written according to the Russian propaganda manual and staged with the participation of Russian Federation’s officials. A significant detail at that event was that, throughout the Russian Federation, the news ended and the federal press microphones in this country were aligned around a convicted fugitive, now used as a spokesperson for the Kremlin's interests in Moldova,’’ Daniel Voda said at a press conference held after a today's cabinet meeting.
The spokesperson for the government also said that ‘’our country is a sovereign state with European aspirations and future, with democratic institutions serving the citizens and our future is not decided in Moscow, but solely by the people of Moldova.’’
'Those who conspire against the people and the state will accordingly answer before the law. I remind once again, our qualification is clear, such an action, statements and opinions expressed by the fugitive criminal Shor is nothing but an act of high treason,’’ concluded Daniel Voda.
On July 6, the day when Moldova commemorated the victims of the communist regime’s deportations, an event was organized in Moscow, attended by Ilan Shor, who made controversial statements.
Ilan Shor fled Moldova in June 2019, after the fall of the Plahotniuc regime. On April 13, 2023, he was sentenced by the Chisinau Court of Appeal to 15 years in prison, in a closed-type penitentiary, with the deprivation of the right to hold positions in the banking system for five years.
