Moldovan government allocates 10 million lei for 35 local development projects through the Diaspora Home Succeeds programme
Thirty five local development projects this year will be implemented through the Diaspora Home Succeeds Programme, DAR 1+3. The government allocated ten million lei for their funding.
The initiatives were selected following a competition and were included in a project approved by the cabinet today. The value of the projects ranges between 200,000 and 350,000 lei. They target such areas as infrastructure development, environmental protection, energy efficiency, culture, education and social protection.
“It is a programme at its sixth edition, which aims to connect our Diaspora citizens to their hometowns, a heartfelt programme where, on the one hand, the government contributes a sum for the carrying out of local level projects, and on the other hand, the Diaspora also contributes with a part, along with the local public authority. This is a highly successful tripartite partnership. The money will be used to arrange playgrounds, equip cultural centers, extend parks, build stadiums, conduct major repairs and install photovoltaic systems. So, while some try to block the right to vote of the Diaspora, we are creating bridges and connections with Moldovans who care a lot about what is happening in Moldova, and we are grateful to them for financially contributing to the communities they come from,” said Dan Perciun, the Minister of Education and Research, at the government meeting.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean thanked the Diaspora citizens who choose to get involved in the development of their hometowns.
“We thank those from the Diaspora who undertake these investments in our settlements and congratulate those localities where these projects will be implemented. We will continue to allocate resources for such useful community projects,” said Dorin Recean.
More specifically, the money will be used for the construction of roads and pedestrian paths, setting of street lighting, water and sewage supply, and for renovating preschool and school institutions, medical centers and cultural centers.
With the financial resources allocated through the Diaspora Home Succeeds Programme DAR 1+3, the large hall of the Community Centre from Valcinet, Calarasi will be renovated and equipped, streets and sidewalks from the village of Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti district, will be modernized, the stadium in the village of Andrusul de Sus, Cahul district, will be renovated, and the dining hall at the Alexandru Donici Theoretical Lyceum of Peresecina, Orhei district, will be renovated. Playgrounds and sports fields for children will be arranged in more localities.
The DAR 1+3 programme is an initiative encouraging the Diaspora to invest in the economic and social development of Moldova. The project is funded based on the 1+3 formula: the Diaspora, the government of Moldova, local public authorities, and development partners. Since 2020, over 194 local development projects have been carried out through this programme.
