Moldova deepens relations of cooperation with United Arab Emirates
Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Galbur, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister and International Cooperation, Sheik Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, being on a working visit to Chisinau on 10 July, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The two ministers exchanged views on the current state of bilateral Moldovan-Emirates relations, in the discussions between them, highlighting the mutual interest in promoting political dialogue, capitalizing on the trade-economic cooperation and strengthening the legal framework.
Andrei Galbur expressed the willingness of the Government of Moldova to create a favourable investment climate for the UAE businessmen. The decision to abolish the visa regime for UAE citizens is a concrete step in this direction.
The parties referred to the importance of diplomatic and consular presence in Moldova and the UAE through establishment of diplomatic missions, which would create prerequisites for facilitating permanent contacts between Moldova and the UAE, so as to implement the bilateral agenda and protect Moldova's interests in the UAE and the region.
There were signed two bilateral agreements during the visit: a) on the mutual promotion and protection of investments and b) on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with regard to taxes on income and on property. The provisions of the treaties will provide the necessary framework to encourage mutual investment flows by creating favourable legal conditions and stimulate the growth of trade between Moldova and the UAE.
This was the first visit to the Republic of Moldova of a Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates.
