
Moldovan deputy premier meets ambassador
Chisinau, 3 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration received Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office's Special Representative for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, who is on a working visit to Moldova.
According to the MAEIE press service, the diplomats referred to the developments in the conflict resolution process in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova and analyzed the prospects for advancing this process.
"We wish to maintain a dynamic and constructive dialogue on existing negotiating platforms and welcome the adoption of the OSCE Council of Ministers' Declaration on 5 + 2 Negotiations, which reaffirmed the commitment of all OSCE participating States to resolving the conflict on the basis of sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country within the internationally recognized borders ", he said.
Popescu told Thomas Mayr-Harting that the Chisinau authorities are counting on the practical support of the Polish OSCE presidency and other foreign partners involved in identifying a viable solution to a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the conflict in the east.
"We pointed out the need to pay more attention and combine efforts to ensure respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms in the Transnistrian region of the country in the context of attesting to a continuing worsening of this state of affairs," he said.
At the same time, the officials exchanged views on solving the current problems that affect the daily life of the inhabitants on both banks of the Dniester.
