Moldovan government approves whistleblower law

Chisinau, March 29 /MOLDPRES/- The whistleblowing mechanism will be improved and whistleblowers will be protected by a number of new measures. Government today approved the whistleblower law, set by the Ministry of Justice, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The document expands the categories of subjects covered by the law and establishes the channels for reporting violations. They may be communicated to the employer, the competent authorities and publicly disclosed.

The application of the new provisions comes to improve the climate of integrity in the public and private sectors, but also to ensure the protection of whistleblowers against any form of retaliation in the context of the disclosure made, thus guaranteeing respect for freedom of expression and the right to information.
