Moldova's National Extraordinary Public Health Commission adjusts public health measures on epidemiological situation triggered by COVID-19

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - Given that the incidence of the cases of infection registered a decrease of 35 per cent against the previous week in the eighth week of the 2022 year and the death rate dropped by 36 per cent, the members of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission (CNESP) adjusted the public health measures as to the epidemiological situation triggered by COVID-19. The new decision enters into force starting today, 1 March, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   
More exactly, all general education institutions, vocational education institutions and higher institutions from Moldova will work as normal, with the physical presence and with the observance of the safety measures. At the same time, the public nourishment units from the settlements where orange code is recorded will act at maximal capacity in exterior and interior spaces, with the obligation for all clients to present the COVID certificate at the entrance.   
Under the new decision, the group trainings, except for those with the participation of performance sportspeople, will be allowed all over Moldova, no matter the alert code. Also, the sports events will be able to be organized at the maximal capacity in exterior and interior spaces, with the obligation for all spectators to present the COVID certificate only in the settlements where the green, yellow and orange code is recorded. In the case of the regions where red code is recorded, such events will be held with the participation of spectators up to 50 per cent of the maximal capacity in the interior space or of the maximal capacity in the exterior spaces and with the obligation to present the COVID certificate.    
In the case of the activities due to be organized in theatres, movie cinemas, concert halls, they will be held at the maximal capacity in the exterior and interior spaces, with the obligation for the spectators to present the COVID certificate.  
Another measure decided by CNESP deals with the shortening of the period of self-isolation from 14 days to ten days, as well as for the term for return to classes with physical presence from seven days to five days.   
As for the preventing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus among the refugees from Ukraine, under the new decision, the authorities in charge of the setting up of the placement centres for refugees and of the provisional centres for the management of the flow of foreigners will undertake all needed measures for observing the measures of prevention and control at the headquarters of the concerned centres, including the organization of separate spaces for the isolation of the people confirmed with COVID-19 and which have easy forms of the disease.   
The CNESP decisions are executory for the central and local public administration authorities, for the private people and legal entities, no matter the activity sectors and the legal form of organization.
