Moldovan prosecutors demand 13 years in prison for Marina Tauber
Prosecutors have asked the court to impose a 13-year prison sentence on MP Marina Tauber, with partial cumulation of sentences, depriving her of the right to hold public offices and carry out activities related to financial and accounting organization within political parties for a period of five years, as well as applying the preventive measure of preventive arrest. Tauber was put on a wanted list.
As for the Shor Political Party, the accusers requested the court to recognize the legal entity as guilty of falsifying financial management reports and accepting illegal financing from an organized crime ring. At the same time, prosecutors asked for the termination of the criminal proceedings, given the party’s dissolution under Constitutional Court's decision.
The accusers also requested the confiscation of over 9.9 million lei, which was transferred under the control of the criminal investigation body, used and intended for the committing of the crime and recognized as material evidence. At the same time, they demanded a special confiscation from Marina Tauber's account of about 197 million lei, meant for the committing of the crime.
The pleas in Marina Tauber's case took place on July 11, at the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters.
Marina Tauber is charged with falsifying reports regarding the financing of the electoral campaign and political party, accepting illegal financing from an organized crime ring, as well as interfering with the execution of justice.
The debates have not concluded and are set to resume at the session scheduled for July 14.
Marina Tauber's lawyers claim that the case is politically motivated.
Marina Tauber left the country in early 2025 and her last public appearance was in Moscow on July 6, where she attended, alongside Ilan Shor, the Congress of the Victory political bloc.
