Moldovan parliament speaker says observance of Supreme Law means respect for democracy, citizens’ rights
The observance of the Supreme Law means respect for the rule of law, democracy, and the rights of each citizen. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today made statements to this effect in a message on the occasion of Constitution Day.
“The Constitution of Moldova is the supreme law of our state. Over the last three decades, the Constitution has been and remains the foundation on which democracy, the rule of law and the working of institutions of our country rest,” noted Igor Grosu.
According to the speaker, the Constitution guarantees the rights and freedoms of citizens, establishes the balance of powers in the state and sets out the rules that must be observed by everyone, regardless of the position they hold.
“The observance of the Constitution means respect for the rule of law, for democracy and for the rights of every citizen,” underlined Igor Grosu.
The parliament speaker emphasized that a strong Moldova can be built through institutions that respect the law and through people who believe in the roles established by the Constitution.
“We can build a strong Moldova day by day only on institutions that respect the law and on people who believe in constitutional roles,” said Igor Grosu.
The official congratulated the citizens on the occasion of Constitution Day, reaffirming the importance of observing the Supreme Law in consolidating democracy and the rule of law.
Moldova marks Constitution Day on July 29, commemorating the adoption of the Supreme Law in 1994. The Constitution represents the legal foundation of the state and guarantees the principles of democracy, the separation of powers in the state, as well as the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens.
