Population census to be regulated by permanent regulatory framework
Chisinau, June 15 / MOLDPRES /- Today, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft law establishing the regulation of censuses, in the form of the establishment of general framework rules, valid for all future official counts. This will make it easier to organize and conduct censuses and help reduce the administrative and budgetary resources required in this regard, the governmnet's communication and protocol department has reported.
The document also refers to the process of planning, collecting, processing, evaluating and disseminating data about people and their homes, as well as the production of census statistical indicators.
According to the leadership of the National Bureau of Statistics, the next census is planned to be conducted in the Republic of Moldova in 2024. Its purpose is to provide information of public interest about population and housing - necessary for policy development, monitoring and evaluation; arguing human development decisions; for scientific research and business development.
The total estimated budget of the population and housing census, proposed for 2024, is estimated at 329.2 million lei, including about 36.8 million lei for the agricultural module.
The organization and conduct of previous censuses was regulated by the adoption of regulations specific to each action.
