
Moldovan Prime Minister chairs road fund council meeting
Prime Minister Dorin Recean chaired the Road Fund Council meeting, where the report on the utilization of resources allocated for national public roads in the first half of the year was presented. Additionally, fund reallocations were examined.
Recean emphasized that the road infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova is continuously modernizing. “I hope we will continue to increase our capacity to build quality roads, specifically having more local companies capable of doing this. Pre-accession funds, alongside the continuation of the European integration path, will give us the opportunity to accelerate infrastructure construction,” he said.
According to the report presented by the National Roads Administration, a total budget of almost 2.7 billion lei has been allocated in 2025 for the maintenance and repair works of national public roads.
The amount utilized for all the executed works in the first half of 2025 is over 1 billion lei, which is about 37% of the total. The works were carried out by 12 specialized companies Roads. Measures implemented include the maintenance of national public roads during summer and winter, the arrangement of passenger stations, roundabouts, intersections, and pedestrian crossings.
During the Road Fund Council meeting, the project to modify the program for allocating road fund resources for national public roads in 2025 was coordinated. Resources were redistributed based on available financial means, savings made, and prioritization of expenditures.
More specifically, the amount allocated for the maintenance of national public roads has increased to 2.13 billion lei. Council members highlighted the importance of timely auctions to ensure all planned works are carried out within the established deadlines.
Currently, the National Roads Administration manages 5993.24 km of national roads, including: 631 km of express roads, 2011.6 km of republican roads, and 3350.6 km of regional roads.
