Moldovan president participates in Romania - Moldova Economic Forum
President Maia Sandu today participated in the Romania - Moldova Economic Forum, an event that brought together entrepreneurs, investors and professionals dedicated to economic development from both banks of the Prut River in Chisinau.
The head of state noted that, in recent years, economic ties between Romania and the Moldova had significantly strengthened. Thus, Romania has become the most important investor in Moldova, with more than 250 million euros invested annually and over 1,700 active companies on market. At the same time, companies with Moldovan capital across the Prut provide more than 20,000 jobs in Romania, with a turnover of around 3 billion euros. Also, Romania is the main destination for our products – over 30 per cent of Moldova's exports go to the Romanian market.
"These figures show not only the strength of our relationship, but also the fact that Moldova is gradually becoming an increasingly business-friendly country. It is a growth that would not have been possible, if we had not carried out projects together with Romania that positively change people's lives," emphasized President Maia Sandu.
At the same time, the head of state welcomed the launch at the Forum of the Women's Entrepreneurship Index, a tool that will give visibility to women entrepreneurs. The Romania-Moldova Economic Forum is organized by the European Women Entrepreneurs Association, under the auspices of the National Bank of Moldova, in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau.
