Moldovan government improves, expands meal vouchers' system
The government today approved the amendment of the Regulation on meal vouchers, in order to bring it in line with legislative changes that extend employees’ access to this benefit. The main updates concern granting vouchers for night shifts and adapting to the electronic format of meal vouchers.
The Regulation clarifies the conditions for granting vouchers, including for employees working night shifts. At the same time, the protection of employees’ rights upon termination of employment is improved by guaranteeing the use of amounts already transferred until the expiry date of the meal vouchers.
Outdated provisions related to paper-based vouchers are also removed, and uniform rules are established for managing electronic vouchers. This simplifies payment flows for employers and operators.
The amendments aim to ensure a digitized and efficient system for all beneficiaries and those operating with meal vouchers.
Presently, over 50,000 employees benefit from meal vouchers, from approximately 800 companies. The average value of a meal voucher is about 60 lei and vouchers with a value between 35 and 70 lei are not taxed.
