
Speaker discusses with new European Union Ambassador to Chisinau
Speaker Igor Grosu met with Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Iwona Piórko.
The talks focused on many projects implemented in our country with the support of the European Union to improve the quality of life for people. The Speaker expressed the parliament's willingness to maintain and further intensify good cooperation relations with the EU and welcomed the disbursement of the first instalment of 270 million euros from the Growth Plan for Moldova – the largest financial aid package offered by the European Union to Moldova since independence. Igor Grosu mentioned that the authorities continue to prioritize joining the European Union, strengthening the country's democratic institutions and the democratic reform agenda.
The Speaker also spoke about the challenges facing the Republic of Moldova in the electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections on September 28, particularly about the interference from Russia through illegal funding of political parties in our country, in aggravating circumstances.
