Sportsmen with performances at Youth Olympic Games to receive increased money prizes in Moldova
Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Moldovan sportsmen who have achieved performances at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2018 will receive higher prize money compared to the amounts offered in previous issues. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved today a Government's decision to increase the attractiveness of performing sports and motivate participants to achieve outstanding results.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the approved amounts of awards for achievements at the Youth Olympic Games in 2018 are: for the gold medal – MDL 120,000; silver medal – MDL 90 thousand; bronze medal – MDL 70 thousand; the fourth place – MDL 50 thousand; fifth place – MDL 38 thousand and sixth place – MDL 28 thousand. For the first time, athletes who will take places seven and eight will be awarded with MDL 21 thousand and MDL 16 thousand, respectively. The cash prizes will also be increased for coaches, doctors and measurements of athletes.
The 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which took place on 06 – 18 October, featured about 4,000 young athletes from around the world. Moldova was represented by 17 athletes, 2 of whom won gold medals, and 5 other athletes ranked 4th, 5th and 6th places. Moldova ranks 38th out of 206 participating states.
The next issue of the Youth Olympic Games will take place in May – June 2022.
