Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova approach current issues on Transnistrian case
On 25 August 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a working meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova Paun Rohovei.
During the discussions, the parties addressed developments in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement, the situation in the region, as well as Chisinau’s efforts to resolve existing challenges and to promote reintegration policies aimed at bringing the two banks of the Dniester closer together.
Ambassador Rohovei reiterated Ukraine’s firm support for the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders, as well as for the country’s European activities and its efforts toward modernization and development.
The talks also focused on prospects for strengthening bilateral relations, including by advancing dialogue within the Joint Moldovan-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on economic and trade cooperation, as well as on possibilities for resuming its activity.
On the occasion of the national holidays, Chiveri extended congratulations on Independence Day of Ukraine. The Ukrainian side conveyed congratulations on the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova. Both officials underlined the importance of continuing dialogue on issues of common interest.
