Moldova and UN to continue cooperation for sustainable development and support of reforms
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan held a meeting with Yeşim Oruç, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on the main areas of cooperation between our country and the UN, as well as the priorities set for the coming period.
The Prime Minister thanked the UN agencies for the support provided to the Republic of Moldova and their contribution to the country’s development, support for reforms, and progress on the path toward European integration.
During the talks, the parties highlighted the importance of continuing cooperation for sustainable development, increasing the country’s resilience, strengthening institutions, and improving the quality of public services.
The officials also discussed areas in which cooperation between the Government and UN agencies can be deepened, including support for vulnerable groups, assistance to refugees, and other fields in which the Organization’s expertise and programs can be leveraged.
An important topic of the meeting was the development of the future Republic of Moldova–UN Cooperation Framework for the period 2028–2032. The parties discussed the need for the future document to reflect the country’s development priorities and the objectives of the Republic of Moldova for the coming years.
Currently, cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the UN is carried out on the basis of the 2023–2027 Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
