Chisinau – Cainari railway section of Moldova to be rehabilitated with support of top European bank
The Chisinau – Cainari railway section will be rehabilitated with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The parliament today ratified the Letter of Amendment to the loan agreement, RLF – Emergency Response – Railways of Moldova, signed between Moldova and the EBRD.
Thus, the loan agreement has been amended by introducing an instalment of 11 million euros. The funds are meant for the purchase of goods for the Chisinau – Cainari section, as well as for financing consultancy services that have already been provided.
The financial conditions of the loan stay unchanged, and the total value of the credit remains 23 million euros.
The loan agreement was signed in 2023, and the funds are meant to finance urgent interventions in the railway infrastructure, in particular the repair of the Valcinet–Ocnita–Balti–Ungheni–Chisinau–Cainari corridor.
