Moldovan president in Kyiv says more air defense for Ukraine means safer sky for Moldova as well
President Maia Sandu has advocated for strengthening Ukraine’s air defense during the meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing, held in Kyiv today.
The head of state emphasized that stronger air defense for Ukraine would directly contribute to the security of Moldova.
“At the meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing, held in Kyiv today, I called for more air defense for Ukraine. This would mean a safer sky above Moldova as well. Since 2022, we have recorded almost 60 violations of our airspace, and this year their number has increased substantially. Every drone shot down by Ukraine also means less danger for our villages. I say it in Chisinau, I say it in Kyiv, I say it in every European capital where I am asked about the security of my country: it is hard to imagine a free Moldova without a free Ukraine,” said Maia Sandu.
The head of state took part in Kyiv in the events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of Ukraine’s independence, alongside President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.
Also today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Maia Sandu the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, for her contribution to strengthening cooperation between the two states and for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
