President awarded at GLOBSEC Forum in Prague

President Maia Sandu has been awarded GLOBSEC Prize at the international Forum in Prague, one of the most important gatherings dedicated to the security and future of Europe. The distinction was granted to her alongside President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.

The organizers of the GLOBSEC Forum justified awarding the prize to Maia Sandu by highlighting “her commitment to defending democracy under pressure and her role in anchoring Moldova’s future in stability and reforms.”

In her speech, the head of state dedicated the distinction to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, speaking about society’s resilience in the face of external pressures and about the firm choice of the European path.

“Those who, for three decades, have fought for democracy, those who, through their vote, removed autocrats and oligarchs. And those who voted for Europe despite Russian pressures and threats — those who refused to be bought or intimidated. And those who go to work every day. I am here thanks to them. It is an honor to represent them,” Maia Sandu said.

The award comes at a time when the Republic of Moldova is accelerating its European integration process and striving to cope with the security challenges generated by the war in the region and by pressures from the Russian Federation.

Maia Sandu’s participation in the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague also included meetings with European leaders, discussions on the enlargement of the European Union, and on the support granted to the Republic of Moldova in its reform process and democratic consolidation.
