President shared Moldova’s experience in countering hybrid warfare at GLOBSEC Forum

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu shared at GLOBSEC Forum in Prague the lessons learned by our country in countering foreign interference and hybrid threats. The head of state emphasized that external interference in elections in Moldova is a warning signal for the whole of Europe, especially for countries that are due to hold elections during 2027.

The head of state took part on Thursday in the 21st edition of the GLOBSEC Forum, held in Prague, an international security and foreign policy event that brought together leaders from almost 80 states.

The president participated in a panel dedicated to the Republic of Moldova, where she presented the country’s experience in countering foreign interference and hybrid threats.

“External interference in the elections of the Republic of Moldova is a warning signal for the whole of Europe, especially for states that are due to hold elections in 2027,” Maia Sandu underlined, drawing attention to the growing risks to democratic processes in the region.

Maia Sandu held a bilateral meeting with President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel. The two officials reconfirmed the solid nature of the Moldovan-Czech partnership, highlighting cooperation in the economic, security and defense fields, as well as the Czech Republic’s consistent support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

During the forum, the President of the Republic of Moldova was awarded GLOBSEC Prize, together with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. The organizers justified the distinction by citing her “commitment to defending democracy under pressure and her role in anchoring Moldova’s future in stability and reforms.”

Maia Sandu dedicated the prize to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, stating that it belongs to “those who have fought for democracy for three decades, those who voted for Europe despite pressure, and those who refused to be bought or intimidated.”
