PHOTO // Agri-food potential of Moldova presented at business forum held in Rome

Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga participated on Thursday in Rome at Moldova–Italy Agribusiness Forum, where she presented the development opportunities of the agricultural and agri-food sector of the Republic of Moldova and the prospects for economic cooperation with Italian partners.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the event was organized to strengthen economic cooperation between institutions and companies from the two states.

During the forum, Ludmila Catlabuga spoke about the agricultural potential of the Republic of Moldova and about the authorities’ interest in developing economic partnerships with Italy by attracting investments, implementing modern technologies and developing projects aimed at strengthening agri-food production and processing.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Investment Agency, the Agency for the Development and Modernization of Agriculture and the Moldova Fruct Association, who presented investment opportunities in the sector, support instruments for the modernization of agriculture and the development prospects of the horticultural sector.

The discussions within the forum focused on the mechanization of agriculture, the use of modern agricultural equipment, technology transfer, cooperation in the field of agri-food production and processing, as well as the development of partnerships between companies and institutions from the two countries. The event also included a B2B and B2G matchmaking session, where representatives of participating companies and institutions discussed joint projects, investments and opportunities for economic cooperation.

At the same time, Minister Ludmila Catlabuga held a meeting with representatives of an international company in the food industry, interested in the potential of the Republic of Moldova for the development of hazelnut cultivation. The parties agreed to continue technical discussions and to explore the possibility of organizing a study visit to the Republic of Moldova, with the participation of farmers and potential local partners. 

Moldova–Italy Agribusiness Forum was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Italy and the Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Moldova, in collaboration with Invest Moldova, Unioncamere and SIMEST. The event brought together representatives of public authorities, the business community and specialized organizations interested in investment and cooperation in the agri-food sector.
