Appointed ministers sworn in office in Moldova
Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - New Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Nicolae Ciubuc and Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Silvia Radu were sworn in office today. The decrees on the appointment of the two ministers were signed by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, who temporarily exercised the interim duties of Moldova’s president.
On 24 September, the judges of the Constitutional Court ruled to suspend President Igor Dodon in the case of appointment of the two cabinet members, after the head of state had deliberately refused to fulfill the obligations stipulated in the Constitution, turning down the candidacies put forward by Prime Minister Pavel Filip two times.
Speaker Andrian Candu congratulated Prime Minister Pavel Filip for the choice made in the case of the two ministers, as both candidates excelled in the fields where they had earlier worked. Candu noted that the ministries taken over by Silvia Radu and Nicolae Ciubuc were important, as citizens are expecting changes and reforms.
PM Pavel Filip congratulated the new cabinet members, stressing that the two ministers would have to work hard, in order to approve a string of important reforms for the citizens during those five months of mandate.
In early last week, the leadership of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM) informed that two ministers of the government would be changed. Thus, Silvia Radu was put forward for the management of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry and Nicolae Ciubuc was nominated for the office of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister.
Silvia Radu is jurist and philologist by profession and started working in the energy sector in 1995. Subsequently, in 2008-2015, Radu led Gas Natural Fenosa. Starting from November 2017 till April 2018, Silvia Radu held the position of Chisinau acting mayor.
Nicolae Ciubuc has been director of the Agency of Interventions and Payments for Agriculture. He has held this office since September 2016.
