DOC // Moldova aligned with new EU sanctions against Russia
The decision on Moldova’s alignment with the European Union’s international restrictive measures against the Russian Federation has been published in the Official Journal.
The new sanctions target public figures from the media and cultural sectors who are considered responsible for promoting Kremlin’s official messages and justifying the aggression against Ukraine: Ekaterina Andreeva, presenter at Pervyi Kanal; Dmitri Guberniev, sports commentator; Pavel Zarubin, state TV correspondent; Maria Sittel, presenter at Rossiya 1; Roman Chumakov, singer; Sergei Polunin, ballet dancer.
The measures include asset freezes, entry and transit bans, as well as restrictions on funds or economic resources for the listed individuals.
The EU sanctions regime was established in 2024 and continues to expand in order to protect regional security and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
