PM visits north Moldova settlement

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has paid a visit to the water intake and treatment station from the locality of Cosauti, where he expressed his appreciation for the teams involved in ensuring access to drinking water.

The PM said that he had gone on site to thank the rescuers, officers and all the specialists who make constant efforts to maintain water quality and protect public health.

“The work of everyone continues. We will constantly monitor water samples, in order to make sure that the water meets safety and quality standards. We stay mobilized, together with the authorities and experts in the field, in order to intervene promptly whenever necessary,” the prime minister emphasized.

More localities in the north of the country, including the municipality of Balti and the districts of Soroca, Sangerei, and Floresti, were left without drinking water for several days following the pollution of the Dniester River with oil substances. The pollution of the Dniester occurred because of an attack on the Dniester Hydropower Complex in Ukraine, on the night of March 6 to 7, when the explosions caused discharges of technical oils and petroleum products into the water.
