DOC // State Tax Service orders freezing of funds of three persons targeted by international sanctions

The State Tax Service (SFS) has ordered the freezing of the funds of three persons targeted by international sanctions. The orders to this effect were published today in the Official Journal.

According to the documents, the persons concerned are Alina Juc, Iuri Vitneanski and Ruslan Garbali.

Iuri Vitneanski is a member of the “Renaissance” Party, and Ruslan Garbali is the head of the Vulcănești territorial organization of the same party. They are accused of “involvement in actions allegedly aimed at undermining democratic processes and influencing public opinion in favor of groups affiliated with Ilan Shor.” At the same time, according to information made public, Alina Juc is said to have had “a central role in recruiting and rewarding people involved in propaganda campaigns.”

The decisions to freeze the funds are forwarded for information to the Intelligence and Security Service, the Interinstitutional Supervisory Council, the National Bank of Moldova and the persons concerned. By a decision of the Council of the European Union, approved on June 15, Iuri Vitneanski, Ruslan Garbali and Alina Juc were added, together with three other persons, including the former governor of the Gagauz Territorial Autonomous Unit, Irina Vlah, to the EU sanctions list for their alleged involvement in actions to destabilize the Republic of Moldova, including through influence operations financed by the Russian Federation and vote-buying schemes ahead of the 2025 parliamentary elections.
