Government spokesperson on Romanian elections

Moldovans with Romanian citizenship are free people. We encourage everyone to go out and vote and make their voices heard, without fear. Government Spokesperson Daniel Vodă conveyed the message today. He urged Moldovans with Romanian citizenship to vote in the runoff presidential elections in Romania.

Daniel Vodă welcomed the active presence of citizens at the polls.

“Moldovans with Romanian citizenship are free people. They have the guaranteed right to vote according to their own beliefs. We are pleased to see the civic responsibility they are showing and their active participation in voting,” said Daniel Vodă.

Also, he urged political actors to refrain from accusations and citizens to vote without fear.

Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova can vote today in the presidential elections in Romania. There are 64 polling stations open in our country, operational between 07:00 and 21:00.

In the first round of the Romanian presidential elections, about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted over three days.

Today, by 2:30 PM, over 14,500 voters had turned out at the polls in the Republic of Moldova. Citizen turnout at the polls is higher than it was two weeks ago when the first round of voting took place. Active voter participation is also noted in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and France.

Two candidates are participating in the presidential race: AUR party candidate George Simion and independent candidate Nicușor Dan.
