Moldovan President at EPC Summit in Albania

Head of State Maia Sandu is participating today in the sixth edition of the European Political Community (EPC) Summit in Tirana, Albania.

During the event, Maia Sandu will meet with European leaders, heads of state and government to discuss the economic development of the Republic of Moldova, regional peace and security and joining the European Union.

"Today, I am in Tirana for the European Political Community summit to meet with European leaders – Moldova's friends. Together, we work to promote regional peace and security, support Moldova's economic resilience, and take the next steps on our path to EU membership," declared Maia Sandu.

On May 17 in Tirana, Maia Sandu will have a bilateral meeting with President of Albania Bajram Begaj. Subsequently, on May 19, at the invitation of President Jakov Milatović, Maia Sandu will pay an official visit to Montenegro.

Albania and Montenegro, like the Republic of Moldova, are candidate countries for EU membership. Thus, the head of state's visits will contribute to better coordination and cooperation in the accession process, through experience exchange and strengthening bilateral relations.

The European Political Community was created at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and represents a platform for political dialogue about peace and security on the continent, as well as cooperation between EU and non-EU states. The inaugural summit of the Community took place in Prague in October 2022, and the second edition was hosted by our country in June 2023.
