
Independent international experts might assess state of ammunitions in Colbasna depot from Transnistria
Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ – The OSCE is prepared to provide independent international experts to assess the condition of ammunition stored in Cobasna locality. The statement has been made, on Thursday, 19 September, in Chisinau municipality, by OSCE Secretary General, Thomas Greminger, by the end of his visit to Moldova.
"I appreciate the resumption of the dialogue of Moldova and Russia upon evacuation of ammunition from Cobasna. The OSCE is ready to fulfill its mandate to ensure the transparency of this process and coordinate the financial and technical assistance provided on it. We are prepared to bring international independent evaluators to assess the condition of ammunition stored in Cobasna, if necessary," said OSCE Secretary General.
The official has also announced that he appreciates the ambitious reforms of the Government from Chisinau to fight corruption and improve independence of judiciary. Thomas Greminger has welcomed the political will of the new Government to move forward within Transnistrian settlement process and appreciated the steps taken by Moldova to fulfill its commitments as an OSCE member state.
Thomas Greminger has concluded that OSCE will continue to provide support to parties in achieving the final settlement of the Transnistrian dispute, based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, with a special status for Transnistrian region.
OSCE Secretary General, Thomas Greminger, has paid a visit to Moldova, on 17 – 19 September, for talks with senior officials of Chisinau and political leadership of Tiraspol.
