Moldova and Hungary to boost economic cooperation

The Republic of Moldova and Hungary will boost economic cooperation, including by developing trade, attracting investments, and facilitating contacts between business communities. The subject was discussed in New York by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Orbán.

The two officials discussed the priorities on the agenda of Moldovan-Hungarian relations, the Republic of Moldova’s European path, and cooperation in several areas of common interest.

Mihai Popșoi emphasized the importance of Hungary’s support for advancing the Republic of Moldova’s accession process to the European Union.


“The strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Hungary, signed six years ago, has provided a solid foundation for developing relations between our countries. We are interested in fully harnessing the potential of economic cooperation, facilitating closer contacts between business communities, and promoting projects that bring tangible benefits to the citizens of both states. We continue to count on Hungary’s support in the process of the Republic of Moldova’s European integration,” said Mihai Popșoi.


For her part, Anita Orbán praised the efforts of the authorities in Chișinău to implement the reforms necessary for European integration and the progress made by the Republic of Moldova along this path.

The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed her country’s support for the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union, based on its own merits, and underscored the interest in developing economic relations between the two states.

During the meeting, the officials also addressed the security situation in the region and the challenges facing the Republic of Moldova.

At the end of the discussions, Mihai Popșoi invited Anita Orbán to visit the Republic of Moldova.
